Skincare myths you must've heard

Our skincare routine is based on the things we've heard since we got our first pimple. You all must have heard a few suggestions or advice regarding skincare. And trust me, most of the advice floating in your head is quite misleading.

Look carefully because it's common to get certain skin issues if you are following any one of these. So, today we are going to discuss some common skincare myths that have paved their way into the minds of people.

Myth 1: Costlier the product, the better it works

Expensive skincare product which has dropper.

If a product is expensive, we think it to be the best. But darling, effectiveness has nothing to do with the price. What actually matters is the quality and ingredients used. I have seen and used products that work even better than the high-end ones. Because you don't always get a sophisticated formula even if you pay fancy amounts.

So, investing a large amount without giving a thought or a thorough read at the list of ingredients is not so cool.

Myth 2: Oily skin people don't need to apply moisturizer

This is the most common advice you must have heard if you belong to an oily skin group. People often get confused between being oily and moisturized. And not using a suitable moisturizer can put you in bigger trouble. A lack of hydration can disturb the moisture barrier of your skin and thereby producing more oil to combat the loss which will do more harm to you. You will be left with more oil and grease on your skin.

So, never take moisturizers for granted. It is advisable to look for a lightweight moisturizer.

Bonus tip: Opt for water-based or gel-based moisturizers.

Myth 3: A product will work for you if it works well for your mother or your favorite celebrity

A golden color dropper.

As a child, we all have played with our mother's makeup and skincare products. And I guess when starting off with the journey most of us have even used them on our skin.

Many people still use the products in the influence of someone but honey it won't work for you unless you have similar skin type as them.

Know that every skin type is different, the products which suit someone may not suit you no matter how popular it is. Be mindful of the things you apply on your skin because skin problems like acne, pigmentation, inflammation are the last thing you would want for yourself.

Myth 4: Sunscreens can be skipped on a rainy day

Sunscreen tube.

People often skip the very last part of their routine on a cloudy day which is the most crucial part that is SPF. SPF is as important for your skin as a moisturizer. You should never leave your house without putting SPF on. Dermatologists even recommend wearing sunscreens indoors too.
So, Don't ever step out of the house without putting sunscreen on because even on a cloudy day, up to 80 percent of the sun's ultraviolet rays can penetrate through the clouds. Read more here.

Myth 5: Fairness creams can make you fair

Never fall into the trap of beauty creams. I repeat NEVER! These do nothing but spoil your mental well-being. Also, it can do irreversible damage to your skin in the long run.

Trust me, there's nothing like fairness creams and you don't need to go after them. Learn that every complexion is equally beautiful.

Follow a good skincare routine and you will be blessed with healthy and even-toned skin.

Myth 6: People with dark complexion don't need to wear sunscreen

This is the most pathetic thing I've ever come across. Darling, no matter what your skin tone is, or what your skin type is, you surely need to apply sunscreen. You need to protect your skin because the skin is always prone to sun damage if bare.

Choose a sunscreen with a minimum SPF of 30 and include it in your daily routine.

So, we are almost done with some common skincare myths and if you have heard any other misleading advice that I haven't covered, please comment down below and save each one of us from that trap.

Note: Boys should also stay away from such crap.

Also, if you've come a long way from starting to the end of this article, I want to say a special thanks to you.
